Green split peas (500g)
Green split peas have a stronger and more earthy flavour than the yellow variety. High in fibre, they make a delicious addition to stews, casseroles and soups.
Directions - use 3 measures of cold water to 1 of peas. Place in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Skim off any scum that forms, reduce heat and simmer for approx 30 minutes or until tender.
